During CAA Day at the Roundhouse on 1/22/25, a number of practicing CAAs and all SAAs from UNM's inaugural MSA class attended the event. Senator Hickey sponsored the memorial, and the group was announced on the Senate floor and had the opportunity to speak with many legislators. Students attended a House Health and Human Services Committee meeting to witness legislative discussions firsthand. NMAAA board members led groups of SAAs in distributing “session survival kits” to every legislator, showcasing advocacy in action. One of the highlights of the day was the students’ interactions with state legislators and their staff, eloquently advocating for the profession and discussing their experiences as the first cohort of SAAs in New Mexico. Several practicing CAAs from Christus St. Vincent (Santa Fe) were also present, showing their support.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all New Mexico legislators for their continuous support of healthcare in our state.
NMAAA serves to advance CAA practice and the ACT for the safety and well being of New Mexicans
